Guidelines for the Day of Roofing Construction

Q: Where should I park my car on the day of construction?

A: It's best to park your car in the garage or on the street. If you need to use your car during the day, parking on the street is more convenient since our debris trailers might block the garage door.

Q: How far should I move items from the perimeter of my home?

A: Please move everything at least 10 feet away from your home. We can help with this on the project day, but we can't be responsible for any damaged items.

Q: What should I do with my pets during the roofing construction project?

A: Keep your pets away from the roofing construction site. The noise and debris can be stressful and unsafe for them. They might be happier at a neighbor's or family member's house for the day.

Q: How can I ensure my children's safety during roofing construction?

A: Please keep children away from the roofing construction site to avoid any potential hazards like nails and sharp debris around your home.

Q: Can I enter or exit my home during the roofing project?

A: It's best to limit entering and exiting your home during roofing construction. If you need to, be very careful and always check overhead and on the ground for debris and nails.

Q: Should I notify anyone about hazards around my house before the roofing project begins?

A: Yes, let your Project Manager know about any hazards like bee/wasp nests, soft surfaces, holes, or overhead power lines to ensure our team's safety.

Q: What should I do with fragile items inside my home during the roofing installation?

A: Remove fragile items from walls, shelves, and ceilings. Roofing construction can cause light vibrations that might shake pictures or loosen light fixtures.

Q: Will you need access to electrical outlets during the roofing project?

A: Yes, we will need access to at least one electrical outlet. If you don't have an exterior outlet, please let your sales representative know for further coordination.

Miscellaneous Questions

Q: What happens if my satellite dish needs recalibration during the roofing project?

A: Our installers might be able to recalibrate your satellite. If not, please call your provider and send us the bill for recalibration.

Q: How do I choose and confirm roofing material colors?

A: Your consultant will go over materials and shingle colors with you so you can make an informed decision. After you sign off, we'll place the order!

Q: What if I have an HOA and need approval for roofing materials?

A: We always recommend contacting your HOA to get all roofing materials and colors approved before we start the project.

Q: What are nail pops and are they common during roofing installation?

A: Nail pops, where nails push through the drywall on your ceiling due to roof vibrations, are rare but can happen. This is due to the drywall installation method and is unavoidable by our crews.

Q: Should I cut my lawn before the roofing installation?

A: Yes, cutting your lawn a day before roofing installation helps our crews clean up those hard-to-find nails.

Q: What time do roofing crews start and finish work?

A: Our crews typically start between 6:30 AM and 7:30 AM and usually finish the same day. These times may vary during peak season, and your Project Manager will keep you updated.

Q: How does inclement weather affect my roofing project?

A: Bad weather might cause us to reschedule your roofing project. Your Project Manager will inform you of any changes due to weather.

Q: What is vent debris and how do I handle it during roofing tear-off?

A: During roof tear-off, some debris might fall through ceiling vents. This is unavoidable and requires minor cleanup.

Q: Why is my mortgage company listed on the insurance check?
A: When you have a mortgage on your home, your lender has a financial interest in the property. As a result, some insurance companies list the mortgage company as a co-payee on the check to ensure the funds are used to repair the property and maintain its value. Your mortgage company will walk you through the steps necessary to get them to endorse the check.
